Heavy Equipment Mechanic or 2nd year Apprentice!

If you are an apprentice, we would love to chat!

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure equipment and/or vehicles are repaired according to deadlines.
  • Communicate any issues as they arise with Management regarding equipment/vehicles including future probable issues when applicable.
  • Follow Environmental policies for all shop and jobsite activities.
  • Participate in proper housekeeping protocol whether on site or at shop (for safety and organizational purposes).
  • Repair/Replace defective parts as required.
  • Trouble shoot and inspect equipment, diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Hydraulic, electrical, welding skillset.
  • Experience with Hydraulics, Diesel and Electrical engines.
  • Experience with lubrication, cooling and exhaust systems.
  • Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance plans.
  • At least 5 years on-the-job experience in a similar role.
  • Ability and willingness to work in unfavorable conditions and weather.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Possess good leadership ability, as well as ability to work as part of a team or even lead a team when called upon.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications as required.
  • Ability to work and carry out projects within a stipulated timeframe or deadline.

AZ/DZ Driver

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed pre-trip inspections of equipment and assigned vehicles.
  • Transport loads to assigned facilities following all safety requirements.
  • Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while abiding by all company policies and procedures.
  • Act in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Environment rules and regulations and/or other applicable legislative bodies.
  • Participate in training as required by the company and/or its representatives.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Management.
  • Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in the Construction industry.
  • Class DZ and/or AZ license required with no restrictions.
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract/CVOR.
  • Copy of Drivers Abstract.
  • Safety Boots.
  • Ability to climb up and down a vehicle repetitively and/or as required.
  • Ability to pull/push as required to safely secure any loads (e.g. using winches, securing tarps, using ropes and/or chains as required, etc.)
  • Must be fluent in English – speak, read and write effectively.
  • Heavy Equipment experience is considered an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates with construction, aggregate and/or waste management experience. Drivers are expected to perform a variety of tasks in different divisions dependent upon work availability
